The "Stroup Guitar"
You know when a guitar a has name like "Pearly Gates", "Greenie", or "The Stroup Guitar", its become an icon of American music culture. Interesting how all those named guitars are Les Pauls!
The "Stroup" is one of only 2 known "good" left handed guitars from 1960. The other is owned by Paul McCartney.
I was fortunate enough to have the "Stroup" in the shop for a little work. Absolutely beautiful guitar in stunning condition. You'd never know this guitar is over 65 years old. Thanks to R.M. for bringing it by the shop and letting us see a piece of history.
South Austin Moonlighters
The Moonlighters
Hailing from Austin, TX, the South Austin Moonlighters are one of the best Americana, roots bands around. They stopped by in the early part of 2024 for a little private concert. Chris Beall (white hat), actually got me on stage for the first time in 1992. I'm eternally grateful for the impact he's had on my life. There probably wouldn't be a Guitar Garage without his influence. Check out these guys on Apple Music, Spotify, or wherever you download your favorite tunes. They've got some really great videos on YouTube as well.
Tripp Houck
Tripp
From Midland, TX, Tripp may not be a full blown celebrity yet, but he's well on his way. From his cover band "Side Effects" to his all original material, Tripp is a fantastic emerging musician that will soon be a household name. I had the pleasure of making Tripps custom "Firebird", which he writes his originals with, I'm told. Tripp is a frequent visitor to the shop, but I imagine his gifting will take him away from Midland in the future. Good Luck Tripp!

Alex is one of the best singer/songwriters I've ever met.
